Evacuating happens from various points across the map; designated in-game by a circle of yellow lights, an audible beeping sound when in proximity, as well as a red arrow on the player's in-game map. At the start of each match, the player's squad (containing one to three people) will be assigned two evacuation locations separated by a sizable distance. Players can evac on any drop ship called into the map, but can only call in a drop ship at the two locations marked with the red arrow on their in-game map.

Evac Locations are designated areas on the map used to properly leave the game and secure loot.

Mechanics

Evacuating is the only way to leave a match with gear (aside from safe pockets) as well as the only proper way to leave a match.

When any of the players in a squad are within range of the evacuation location, players will be granted the ability to call for evac. When a player pressed the "CALL EVAC" button (default keyboard Y) the following occurs:

  1. An confirmation noise is played, audible to players in the immediate vicinity.
  2. A 55 second sequence is initiated, in which the evac ship will spawn across the map and begin traveling to the players' evac location.
  3. The evac ship will lower itself into position, finally landing and opening the ship doors.
  4. A 20 second waiting period begins, until the doors close and the ship takes off; completing evacuation.

Player Behavior

Evac ships are incredibly loud, and draw lots of attention without question. As such, often times players will be targeted as an expense of initiating evacuation. Furthermore, evac ships are open on all four sides without room for cover. As a result, players will often take cover nearby, waiting until the takeoff progress bar appears on screen to board the evac ship.
