Fortuna III is home to a broad variety of wildlife. Almost all of which has one thing in common: It enjoys eating anyone foolish enough to step foot on the surface of the planet. The planet is also home to a few different species of non-hostile creatures. Prospect Station also has two unique creatures which can't be found anywhere else.

Before the Cycle, Fortuna III's ecosystem featured few predators, and none considered dangerous to a well-prepared colonist. The Teratomorphic Energy Field changed all that, with monstruous creatures emerging from the unknown to savage the panicked colonists as they fled the planet's surface.

Once prospectors began braving the first windows in the Cycle a decade later, they found Fortuna III overrun with large and highly hostile beasts of unnatural design. Some believe these creatures were always there, hiding under the surface; others see them as the result of constant mutations spurred by the TEF. In either case it's clear that the Cycle is to blame for their appearance, and the Storms that affect the planet make these creatures even more dangerous.

Hostile Creatures

Hostile creatures attack on sight or sound if the prospector is close enough. They do not attack each other. Which creature can be found in a specific location and its amount is determined by the Danger Level of the area. In high or extreme danger areas there can sometimes be stronger variants of a creature.

Regular Creatures

Mature Rattler basic.webp
Mature Rattler A stronger, faster, and tougher version of the Rattler. The Mature Rattler can be found in high or extreme danger areas.
Marauder basic.webp
Marauder A formidable creature capable of attacking prospectors from a distance with two different spit attacks and two types of melee attack. It is very fast, has good Armor and has a lot of Hit Points. It is known as Jeff by the community. The Marauder can be found in high or extreme danger areas, typically accompanied by numerous Striders and Rattlers.

Blast Tick.jpg
Blast Tick A small creature with a large, glowing abdomen full of flammable materials. It attacks by rushing the player and exploding after a short delay, dealing heavy damage to any player and creature in its area of effect and killing itself in the process. This creature can often be found where Brightcap Mushrooms spawn
Acid Tick.jpg
Acid Tick A small creature with a large, glowing abdomen full of flammable materials. It attacks by rushing the player and exploding after a short delay, dealing heavy damage to any player and creature in its area of effect and killing itself in the process. After detonating, it leaves an acid cloud that deals damage to anyone that touches it. This creature can often be found where Brightcap Mushrooms spawn
Howler.webp
Howler An upcoming creature in Season 3. Being blind, it relies on Echolocation to hunt. The Howler serves as a mini-boss of sorts, bridging the power gap between Marauders and Crushers. During combat, it relies mostly on ranged attacks and its namesake howls, but it is also capable of bodyslamming anyone that gets too close. The first roaming enemy in The Cycle, the Howler moves around the map in search of food, resting in the nests it has built in several places of interest

Passive Creatures

Passive creatures are creatures that do not attack anything and cannot be damaged or killed. They are simply part of the non-hostile lifeforms on the planet. Some of the passive creatures do have an additional function, such as the Birds which function as a sound trap alerting anything nearby if a prospector gets close.

Passive Creatures

A Leafman Leafman A Leafman is a small passive creature that roams around Fortuna III. Instead of walking, it moves by hopping. When crouching repeatedly next to them, they will give off small pink hearts and follow the player a short distance. Leafman are common in areas with a lot of Flora, like the Jungle.
A bird Bluetail These birds are harmless, but they fly off into the sky with a loud squawking noise when a prospector gets close, alerting anything nearby of their presence. The birds are spread out over all of Fortuna III.
A Blue Runner from The Cycle (2019) Blue Runner A Blue Runner is a type of creature that leaves its eggs all around Fortuna III. These Blue Runner Eggs can be looted and sold. The creature itself is not part of The Cycle: Frontier, but was part of The Cycle (game). The eggs are spread out over the whole of Fortuna III.

Prospect Station Creatures

These creatures are exclusive to Prospect Station. They cannot be interacted with in any way.
