Summary of changes

This event changes mechanics in the game, or adds additional mechanics. The following is a short summary:

  • Storms are three times as frequent on Crescent Falls and Tharis Island.
  • Altered Meteor Fragments and Altered Meteor Cores can be collected from meteors and dead creatures.
  • The Storm Divers Commission item can be looted from any container, which is required during the new event missions.
  • These altered meteor items can be used to craft Gear and Weapons at the Gear Printer. If an item was already craftable, such as the KARMA-1, it is no longer possible to craft it with the original recipe, just the new recipe.
  • In a Match, there is a crate with loot next to the Drop pod after landing. This crate can include Armor with Storm Resistant Perks, healing Consumables, and other useful items to help survive the dangerous weather.
  • Some locations have Howler Nests in them which you visit during new event missions.
  • Each Faction has a new Mission with 7 parts. Each part requires Storm Divers Commissions, as well as other objectives. Each mission gives a unique Cosmetic upon the completion of the last part.
  • Visibility has been increased during the storm's buildup. It will still be pitch-dark during the storm's climax.
  • Creatures drop Creature Head items more often.

ICA Mission: Storm Breaker

Crescent Falls and Tharis Island are affected by a new kind of storm, with more frequent surges and deadlier lightning strikes. The supply of raw and salvaged materials has been crippled, and it's up to you to keep the station from falling apart!

Be a Stormdiver for the ICA, drop directly into active storms, complete missions, and hand in Storm Diver Commissions. The station needs its best!

The ICA has prepared and deployed additional gear just for Storm Divers, available in crates around drop pod locations in Crescent Falls and Tharis lsland.

Ah, hello again! The freak storms over Crescent Falls have become a problem, so much so that there's been a population boom among the more hostile fauna. Can you brave the storm and even things out for us, Prospector? And don't forget to check the care packages the ICA set near drop pod locations, they'll make your job much easier, I'm sure!

Objectives

Rewards

One of our salvage crews noticed a strange organic construction, some sort of nest, maybe? Can you head down and check it out for us? Maybe the beasts on the surface are reacting to the storm by building nests? Just, bring us a sample, so we can be sure.

Rewards

This is something of a delicate matter, so some discretion is needed... Someone working for us 'misplaced' some valuables they'd be entrusted with to stash on the planet, instead spreading it around wherever they could to retrieve later. We need them back, urgently. Or at least enough similar in value; search any

Safes you find and stash any Jewelry you can get your hands on at the Greens Prospect Fulfilment Center.

Objectives

Rewards

Our people have had an eureka moment with the Altered Meteor Fragments you delivered! If we can get our hands on enough full cores, we might be able to rid ourselves of the yoke Korolev has over the station! But we'll also need a lot of equipment for our tests... Search any container you can find; the ICA will gladly buy whatever you bring back. And don't forget the cores! They can be rebuilt if you have enough Altered Meteor Fragments, if you can't get to any whole ones.

Korolev Mission: Forged in the Storm

Freak storms have appeared over Fortuna III, with two shrouding Crescent Falls and Tharis Island. Higher storm frequency, more aggressive lightning strikes... There's great risk here, but also great opportunity and rewards!

Be a Stormdiver for Korolev, drop directly into an active storm, prove you can handle Fortuna III's worst by completing missions and handing in Storm Diver Commissions.

Korolev has fabricated additional gear just for Storm Divers, available in crates around drop pod locations in Crescent Falls and Tharis lsland.

You've noticed, of course, some of the strange storms over the planet now? It has made operations on Crescent Falls and Tharis Island... difficult. But no worries! Korolev is taking the lead, as always, and providing care packages with special gear for all the brave prospectors like you that drop during these conditions.

Of course... we need supplies for those. Search through Industrial Crates, you should find materials we can use in those.

Objectives

Rewards

Those fragments you brought back are very interesting indeed! Korolev needs more people down there, but too many that we send come back foamed... The station needs better supplies, and you can help! Search through Military Crates, always something good in those! Oh, and shoot any Heavy Striders you see, OK?

Objectives

Rewards

Just who I needed! There have been reports that our latest batch of weapons have been faulty, all lies of course! I need you to set the record straight, take out some rivals using one of our superior guns!

Oh, and stash some Shock Absorbers at Greens Prospect on Crescent Falls, we need parts to repair a factory machine... You can do this quietly for us, right?

Objectives

Rewards

Another prospector brought back a full Altered Meteor Core to the ICA, and they immediately became very bullish in negotiating energy fees, it can't be a coincidence! You need to bring us some of those cores, we can't lose the upper hand here! If you can't find any cores yourself, get enough Altered Meteor Fragments to combine, then bring them as soon as you can, Prospector.

Osiris Mission: Lightning in a Bottle

A new and unexplained meteorological event is covering much of the surface; while Bright Sands is unaffected, Crescent Falls and Tharis Island have been covered by frequent, and lethal, storms.

Be a Stormdiver for Osiris, drop directly into an active storm, hand in Storm Diver Commissions while completing essential tasks. Osiris will ensure you're well compensated for your efforts.

Osiris has developed some unique gear for Storm Divers to use, available in crates around drop pod locations in Crescent Falls and Tharis lsland.

Excellent, you're here. No doubt you've noticed the wild storms over Crescent Falls and Tharis Island? An unexpected inconvenience, of course, but they present an unmissable opportunity for research! Let's start with how the new storms affect the local fauna; hunt down some Heavy Striders and bring back useful samples.

Oh, right; I had my people design a few trinkets to help you prospectors survive the storms. You should find them waiting around your drop pod in storm afflicted areas.

Objectives

Rewards

Some concerns came to my attention regarding the reliability of our armament under these new storm conditions. Reassure the station that our gear's only weakness is its operator: use Osiris weapons and cut down some creatures. And some of your upstart rivals too, to drive the message home.

Objectives

Rewards

We've received reports of a new organic structure located in Crescent Falls, described as some sort of nest. These storms may have brought out a new species to the surface; I need you locate it and bring back samples for testing.

Objectives

  • Find the Researcher killed by the Creature on top of Nutrion Farms Processing on Crescent Falls.

Rewards

I take it you've seen how the meteors falling through storms are altered by it, right? Fascinating on its own, of course, but there's a similarity between the how these meteor fragments and Fortuna III's hostile fauna react to the storm that we must research further. Bring me Altered Meteor Fragments so we can begin preparations in our lab, and build up a stash of Charged Spinal Bases at the Cresecent Falls Starport

Warehouse for future tests.

Objectives

Rewards

Oh, I believe you'll like this mission, Prospector. Some cretins have been spreading rumours that our energy weapons can suffer from a catastrophic feedback event because of these new storms. Lies, of course, almost definitely spread by our competitors. Put any worrywarts' minds at ease, grab a Zeus, and show how

well it performs against creatures and rival prospectors alike.

Ah, and remember, the Gear Printer currently accepts Altered Meteor Cores for our top tier items, so keep an eye on the sky while you're on the surface.

Storm divers for dummies

An electrifying experience

Okay, so what’s this all about? Storm Divers is the little name that’s given to Prospectors who bravely (and perhaps foolishly) decide to drop onto the surface at a time where the Cycle is at its apex. Because yeah, that’s what’s happening here: the storms are raging strong and more often than ever.

For the duration of the event, Cycle storms will happen a lot more frequently, making the surface a lethal playground for those unwary of the elements’ fury. At the peak of each storm, lightning will strike strong, fast and, more importantly, often. Expect to up your dodging game as skies rain death if you want to come back from a dive alive. At least, each of these storms won’t last as long as they usually do.

Bolts of the violent electric kind aren’t the only gift you can expect from the heavens though. Plenty of meteors will also join the party as they land on the beautiful Fortuna III one after another. And sure, this will make the surface even more dangerous, but think of all the loot and riches you can get from those. After all, Divers aren’t putting their lives on the line for nothing!

The storm divers survival guide

Authorities are well aware that Storm Divers are taking considerable risks and are willing to support them in their endeavors. I mean, you’ll still pretty much do all the work, but at least they’re pitching in a little something for once.

Divers can expect to find a little gift on arrival whenever they plunge, as a gear crate will be available right next to their drop pod. This crate will contain a couple of items that will help survive the tempest, like night-vision goggles and storm-resistant armor. These will be entirely free, so don’t be shy and nab them as soon as you land!

And of course, I guess the best way to survive the apocalypse is to just not participate in it. The event will only be active on Crescent Falls and Tharis Island. As a result, Prospectors who don’t want to dive will be able to experience the game as they usually do on Bright Sands. We hope you will all appreciate the option to opt out.

A reaction from the station

You know what happens whenever something out of the ordinary arises around the planet: the factions want a piece of it and they’re willing to pay for it. New event-specific questlines will be available from the different faction leaders. These will come with their own flavor of permanent cosmetic rewards, so make sure to tackle them before the end!

The usual greed aside, the whole station is readying up for what’s to come and is willing to lend a helping hand towards courageous Prospectors. Crafting recipes have been adjusted towards the accessible side and crafting timers have been significantly reduced. On top of that, several armors, weapons and attachments can now be crafted using a new event-specific currency. Cherry on top, items sold to the factions will yield a larger amount of K-Marks and faction points than usual.

Everyone on the station is psyched up for what’s to come, and we hope you will be as well!

The last nook and crannies

There are a last few details about the event that we’ve decided to cram into bullet points. Here you go, eat your heart out.

Tharis-specific changes

  • Reduced the amount of ingots required to use the Forge from 3 to 1.
  • Timers for the Forge have been drastically reduced.
  • Also slightly reduced the chance of side products appearing when using the Forge.
  • In other words, go grab your favorite hammer and start forging away like there’s no tomorrow!

Other general changes

  • All details about the event are available in Badum’s Codex.
  • Dawn, Day and Dusk phases have been shortened, so Night can reign supreme.
  • On that note, visibility during storm phases has been increased, for the sake of your eyeballs.
  • Prospectors will enjoy a 60-second grace period from lightning strikes after dropping on the surface, to make sure no one will be zapped while the game’s loading.
  • Loot tables have been generally adjusted to the event.
  • The “Incoming Storm” warning timer has been reduced to 3 minutes to avoid interface spam.
  • Added several voice lines related to the event to Badum’s repertory, so you can enjoy his beautiful booming voice that much more.
  • Added localization for event-specific text.
