The Notes on Meteor Experiment is a collection of two Mission Items used in the ICA Campaign Mission Project Fireball Part 3 and 5.
There are two variants:
- Notes on Meteor Experiment - 1, used in Part 3. This item is located at the top floor of the large building overlooking Power Plant on Bright Sands.
- Notes on Meteor Experiment - 2, used in Part 5. This item is located in the loot room at Geothermal Plant on Crescent Falls. To open the loot room, Prospectors must solve the puzzle at Geothermal Plant first.
See their locations on the Interactive Map, as well as on the image below. Notes 1, Notes 2.
Description
- Notes on Meteor Experiment - 1: Personal data tablet with theoretical research on powering energy generators with fragments from Fortuna's moon. The power output of a single working Fireball generator would be revolutionary.
- Notes on Meteor Experiment - 2: "Data on the first prototype for Project Fireball. Yields under safe conditions were underwhelming, with warnings of an uncontrollable chain reaction if pushed too hard without further research. Might explain why there's a giant hole in the moon...
- Final notes suggest switching resources to look into NiC.
Story
In Project Fireball, ICA is trying to create a new source of energy so that they won't have to rely on Korolev for energy. The mission has the Prospector collect various items to experiment with. The goal of the mission is to try to use Meteors as a source of power. In part 3 and 4, the prospector has to collect old research notes about this experiment. Notes 1 has promising results about the experiment, making them interested in the data from Notes 2. Notes 2 suggests that the experiment failed. Nevertheless, the ICA decides to continue working on an improved design. In Never Give Up Part 1 it is made clear that this improved design also failed, and that ICA will explore another avenue of power generation: NiC Oil Cannisters.
