Mission Item

From The Cycle: Frontier Wiki

A mission item (sometimes: story item) is a special type of Item used in campaign missions. They are always connected to a specific mission part from a campaign. They serve as a way to tell the story of events that have occurred on Fortuna III through its location, description, and mission text.

See Also Icon.pngSee also: While technically tagged as mission items, Data Drives are not covered by this article. They don't have the same mechanics nor lore significance as the type of mission item covered by this article.

Mechanics

  • A mission item is connected to a specific campaign mission part. For example, the Damaged Camera Drone.pngDamaged Camera Drone is an objective for Your Civic Duty Part 3.
  • A mission item can only be picked up from the ground by a Prospector if they have the accompanying mission part for it. If the 'mission item is in the backpack of a dead Prospector, it can be taken from that backpack and taken back to station.
  • Unlike other Items found as Loot on Fortuna III, a mission item re-spawns within 1min and can re-spawn even if Prospectors are in the vicinity of the item's spawn location.
  • All mission items are of CommonRarity.svgCommon rarity. They sell for 2 K-Marks and 0 Faction Reputation.

Lore

A mission item helps to tell the Lore and story of the game. As the Prospector progresses through the Campaigns, they help paint a picture of the world, its factions, its dangers, and the people that live in it.

Trivia

  • In the Tutorial, any mission item can be picked up, regardless if the Prospector is on the accompanying mission part.
